Samantha
Long enduring best friend, Sam has shared the last decade of the roller coaster ride that is my life. I think she preferred the Colorado mountains to the South Carolina heat, but she somehow manages to enjoy herself where ever, whatever; a much envied ability! But then, I think she's a bit brighter than I am ...
Addendum:
Sadly, Sam ate the toxic pet food this spring (2007), before it was known to be lethal. She exhibited all the signs of poisoning, and eventually became so weak she could no longer climb a few steps. I had to put her down ...
Her pictures were used extensively throughout this web site; I've removed those pages but have yet to repost them.
Why have I titled my site "Artifact Hunting"? Most of what I keep on this site falls under one of the several definitions of 'artifact'. Artifacts are man-made items, and they're usually hard to find and often difficult to interpret. Unexpected results of processing is the newest use of the term, like the pixilated texture of photographs on a computer screen or Moire patterns (or most of the extensions to our mathematical and physical sciences). Stretching the definition a bit to allow inclusion of items made by any type of life form, as well as complex conglomerates of life forms like governments, pretty much covers all the topics on this site. These topics will, of course, grow and change.
Now, about Samantha, my dog. She's very bright, fairly patient, and mostly undemanding. Along with those attributes she is what is called a medium blond, and is quite pretty. Truly, a fine example of a man's best friend! Since she's my constant companion, I'd thought I'd use her images to brighten up the pages of this site.
